26 - 27 September 2014 - Sunshines Coast

Young Roelof Britz arrived at 9 AM weighing in at 3.7 kg and 53 cm tall. This all happened very far away in Windhoek, Namibia. This is our second grandchild and Vlasta will be seeing him in January.

After all the excitement we visited the Aquarium and Turtle Hospital. We spent a long time enjoying all the fish we had seen in the wild as well as many we had not.

The next day we spent at the Australia Zoo which was run by Steve Irwin and now by his wife Terri. This zoo is immaculately maintained and the shows are outstanding. In the evening we drove to Redcliff to have dinner with Lynette and Hadley Toweel. We both worked with Lynette at the Standard Bank when we all lived in Johannesburg.

The Sunshine Coast is very much a beach holiday destination for the people of Brisbane because they do not have beaches near the city. Being school holidays it was very busy and we were happy to leave.
